Material Specialist

Responsibilities:

• Professional responsibility for material development for vacuum components, usually carried out in collaboration with our suppliers
• Consulting and liaison function for the areas of product development, marketing, procurement, numerical simulation, production, and testing laboratory
• Maintaining the network and partnerships with suppliers, customers, and research institutes
• Identifying customer requirements with the support of marketing and developing the necessary product specifications
• Leading technology projects in the fields of materials, coatings, and manufacturing technologies
• Conducting and documenting failure analyses
• Supporting production in optimizing production processes
• Assisting procurement in selecting and developing suppliers
• Documenting know-how regarding the use and applications of our materials with our end customers (e.g., lithography, inspection systems, deposition or etching processes,vacuum technology)

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s / Master’s / PhD degree in Materials Science & Engineering / Chemical Engineering / Chemistry / Physics
• 5-10 years of experience.
• Completed studies in materials science, materials engineering, mechanical engineering with a focus on materials science, or comparable fields of study, ideally with in-depth knowledge of aluminium and steel and the associated coating systems
• Knowledge of material production & surface treatment processes, such as aluminium alloys, stainless steels, casting, forging, anodization, passivation, electroplating
• Experience with problem solving process (PSP), failure analysis (FA), design of experiments (DOE) & technical report writing
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Excellent skills in project management, presentation, and documentation
• Proficiency in English
• Willingness to travel worldwide to suppliers and customers as needed (travel activity 10 - 20%)
