Head Manufacturing

Our client is an integral part of the growth of Flexible packaging industry in South Asia. They create customized and innovative flexible packaging solutions - Milk Film Pouch, Easy Peel Lid Film, Laminates, Shrink and Stretch LD Film and Labels (Shrink and Wrap Around Labels) - across industries ranging from Dairy, Food & Beverages, Pharmaceuticals, Personal & Home care, Health & Beauty and more.

Role Purpose:

• The Head of Manufacturing is accountable for ensuring operational excellence across all plant operations. 
• This includes optimizing key performance indicators (KPIs) such as On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) delivery, cost control, quality assurance, and team engagement. 
• The role involves streamlining production processes, maximizing capacity utilization, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture across multiple manufacturing plants.

Responsibilities:

Planning and Strategizing:

• Production Scheduling & Optimization: Develop and optimize production schedules to ensure efficient capacity utilization and timely delivery. Identify and resolve production constraints to meet targets consistently.

Budgeting: 

• Prepare and approve budgets for materials, machinery, human resources, and other operational requirements to ensure production goals are met within financial constraints.
• Policy, Process Design, Implementation, and Review
• Process Design: Create and implement efficient, plant-specific production processes that align with global quality standards.
• Quality Control & Tracking: Implement tracking systems for production and quality control, utilizing data analysis to identify issues and guide decisions on inventory, staffing, and work procedures.

Coordination and Internal/External Interactions:

• Internal Collaboration: Foster collaboration with internal teams (e.g., Accounts, HR, Sales, Procurement) to align manufacturing processes, optimize resource sharing, and ensure best practices.
• External Collaboration: Engage with customers, clients, contractors, and industry research organizations to meet manufacturing standards and stay abreast of technological and process innovations.
• Inter-plant Collaboration: Work closely with other plant heads/managers to share insights, promote best practices, and maintain consistency across plants.

Performance, Capability, and Morale Management:

• Performance Management: Oversee personnel performance to ensure alignment with organizational goals, encouraging continuous improvement through coaching and performance reviews.
• Team Morale & Motivation: Cultivate a positive work environment by providing constructive feedback, recognition, and fostering teamwork to motivate employees.

Infrastructure and Technology Investment & Management:

• ERP System Accuracy: Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of production-related data within the ERP system, facilitating efficient operations and decision-making.
• Technology Infrastructure Investment: Collaborate with senior leadership to secure investments in technology and infrastructure to enhance operational capabilities.

Maintenance Oversight: 

• Oversee the maintenance of plant facilities and machinery, ensuring timely upkeep and readiness to meet production demands.

Requirements:

• Technical and Process Knowledge
• In-depth expertise in manufacturing processes, including LEAN, OEE, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies.
• Strategic Thinking
• Strong ability to translate business goals into actionable manufacturing strategies, optimizing both short-term operations and long-term objectives.
• Financial Acumen Proficiency in cost control, budgeting, and financial management specific to manufacturing operations.
• People Development & Leadership Demonstrated experience in managing teams, driving employee engagement, and fostering leadership development at all levels.
• Supply Chain & Operations Management Comprehensive understanding of supply chain management, production planning, and logistics integration to ensure seamless operations.
• Data-Driven Decision-Making Ability to utilize data analysis to make informed, actionable decisions that drive performance improvements.
• Negotiation & Stakeholder Management Expertise in stakeholder management, contract negotiation, and influencing decision-making across various levels of the organization.
