Job description

Role Description:


  • The Retail Sales Manager is responsible for the strategic direction, commercial performance, and operational excellence of all retail outlets and kiosks across the region. This role focuses on driving sustainable revenue growth, optimizing the retail footprint, and institutionalizing a premium customer experience.
  • The Manager leads the retail leadership team to achieve aggressive sales targets while ensuring brand consistency and operational compliance across all touchpoints.

 

Responsibilities:


  • Strategic Sales Leadership: Define and implement regional retail sales strategies and commercial plans to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue and subscriber acquisition targets.
  • Retail Footprint Optimization: Analyze market trends and footfall data to identify opportunities for new store openings, kiosk relocations, or retail format optimizations.
  • P&L & Budget Management: Manage the retail department budget, monitor OpEx, and ensure a high return on investment (ROI) for all retail-led campaigns and store operations.
  • Customer Experience Excellence: Establish and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for customer service; implement 'Voice of the Customer' feedback loops to improve NPS (Net Promoter Score).
  • Standard Operating Procedures: Develop and enforce standardized internal procedures for inventory management, cash handling, KYC compliance, and platform usage (CRM/Afrivendas).
  • Cross -Functional Synergy: Collaborate with Marketing to ensure seamless deployment of trade marketing materials, campaigns, and product launches across the retail network.
  • Performance Coaching: Lead, mentor, and evaluate Retail Team Leaders and Supervisors; oversee the professional development and succession planning for the entire retail workforce.
  • Reporting & Business Intelligence: Direct the production of high-level analytical reports regarding sales conversion, productivity per head, and competitor retail activity.

 

Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing, or related field.
  • An MBA is highly preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years in Retail Sales, with at least 3-4 years in a senior management role, preferably within Telecoms, Banking, or high-volume FMCG.
  • Advanced understanding of retail economics, inventory management, and CRM systems.
  • Clear communication and strong writing.
  • Ability to translate complex market data into executable retail strategies and sales incentives.
  • Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage large culturally diverse teams.
