Job description

Role:


  • The Manager - Tourism Research will be responsible for leading research and consulting projects within the tourism sector, providing strategic insights to clients, and driving innovation in product development. 
  • This role requires expertise in project management, strategic consulting, client relationship building, and team leadership, as well as a deep understanding of the tourism industry. The Manager will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality outputs that meet the evolving needs of the tourism sector.


Responsibilities:


Project Management:


  • Lead and oversee multiple research and consulting projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality output that meets client expectations.
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project completion.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management and clients regarding project status, challenges, and key milestones.


Strategic Consulting:


  • Provide strategic guidance and consulting to clients in the tourism sector, including destination marketing organizations, tour operators, and travel companies.
  • Design, develop, and implement tourism development strategies, marketing plans, and product innovations to support client goals and business growth.
  • Conduct market and competitor analyses to provide actionable insights and recommendations that help clients stay ahead of trends and industry changes.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify challenges, opportunities, and solutions that drive growth and optimize tourism operations.


Product Development:


  • Work with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, operations, sales) to design, develop, and launch innovative tourism products that cater to market demands and stakeholder needs.
  • Ensure the alignment of product development strategies with the broader organizational goals and the ever-evolving needs of the tourism industry.
  • Analyze market feedback and performance data to iterate and refine tourism products, ensuring they continue to meet consumer expectations.


Client Engagement & Relationship Building:


  • Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, understanding their needs, expectations, and business goals.
  • Regularly communicate research findings, recommendations, and strategic insights to clients, ensuring the information is tailored to their specific context.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing guidance and support that helps them achieve their objectives and overcome challenges.
  • Identify new business opportunities, develop proposals, and play a key role in securing new projects, ensuring continued business growth.


Team Leadership:


  • Lead and manage a diverse team of researchers, analysts, and consultants, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary resources, guidance, and support to excel in their roles.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment that promotes knowledge sharing, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, performance reviews, and coaching to ensure team members’ continued development and success in achieving organizational objectives.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and manage workloads to ensure team efficiency and timely project delivery.


Industry Engagement:


  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging issues, and best practices in tourism research and consulting.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to maintain and grow the company’s presence and reputation in the tourism sector.
  • Collaborate with industry partners, associations, and organizations to contribute to the advancement of the tourism sector and identify new opportunities for growth and collaboration.


Requirements:

 

  • Leadership: Strong leadership abilities to manage and motivate a team while fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Analytical Expertise: Advanced skills in data analysis, market research, and interpretation of complex tourism data.
  • Project Management: Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on meeting deadlines, managing budgets, and delivering quality results.
  • Consulting: Deep understanding of the tourism sector, with the ability to provide strategic advice and solutions to clients.
  • Client Relations: Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with clients, understanding their needs and delivering solutions that drive business growth.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively to clients and stakeholders.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the tourism industry, including trends, challenges, and opportunities, with the ability to stay ahead of industry developments.
  • Product Innovation: Experience in developing and launching new tourism products that address market demands and align with client goals.
