Description

Responsibilities:


  • Plans, directs and controls all innovation, continuous improvement and/or COGs programs to ensure timely execution and successful completion for all categories and brands within our SA Business Unit.
  • Significantly impact the business unit(s) by ensuring that proper business objectives are established and attained.
  • Create and lead the SA business strategy for Technology and Innovation to deliver a pipeline of new product/pack launches, driving the business growth required to meet mid & longer-term market share and financial objectives.
  • Create value through cost optimization of recipes and raw materials. Deliver annual cost/value improvement and develop supplier capability for longer term business continuity and shorter-term supply, Quality & price risk management.
  • Inform and influence at all levels and functions to ensure that the stage gate process is adhered to from concept development to commercialization.
  • Optimize regional and global technical resource utilization by bridging SA R&D activities and technical requirements with regional/global technical platforms & leaders.
  • Seek synergies with regional and global R&D communities to maximize the local/global project efficiency.
  • Build a High Performing SA R&D Team through recruitment and development of R&D staff (covering the areas of Regulatory Affairs, Food Science & Technology, Packaging, Quality, Project Management (LPM) and Nutrition), effective organizational structures, leadership coaching and mentoring, succession planning, innovation culture, technical and core competency identification and training, and team development programs.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Engineering, or food-related field
  • 10 years’ experience in food product development
  • People management experience
  • Fluent in English
  • Proven track-record of negotiation and influencing skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Stakeholder management
  • Advanced communication skills
